CastPatcha Poonpiriya, Chonnikan Netjui awardsThailand National Film Association Awards 2014 - Best Supporting Actress, Best Actress, Best Editing, Best Cinematography Film descriptionAre we witnesses to the birth of a new genre, the Twitter comedy? The basis for the screenplay for the second film by the maker of the famous debut 36 is a collection of 410 randomly selected tweets sent out by teenager@marylony, copied word for word with no intervention whatsoever. The director illustrates them and fills in the space in Mary’s story. Mary is a student in her last year at a girls’ school, a wild teenager being torn apart by adolescent feelings. Along with her loyal friend, Suri, she is putting together a yearbook with photos of all the girls, and she falls in love with the mysterious M., experiences creative elation, and learns about the sadness of loss. Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit manages to elicit both an absurd sense of humor and a characteristic melancholy by combining text and images (two tweets appear on-screen every minute). The action of the film barely moves beyond the school building and a train station that is no longer in use, and the images are reminiscent of Instagram. This is a light, humorous film that is also full of emotion.
