Zofia Brzeska-Gaudier – Writer Recovered

Zofia Brzeska’s first book was published in Poland in June 2014, which includes fragments of her manuscripts collected and published by Gillian Raffles in 2008 in London.

The story of Zofia Brzeska and Henry Gaudier inspired H. S. Ede to write the book Savage Messiah, later adapted into a film of the same title by Ken Russell. In the film, Brzeska is shown as a Polish writer, though her first book was published 83 years after her death in England. The Q&A after the Wrocław screening of Savage Messiah at KNH 8, July 26 at 7:15 PM will include Jakub Jedliński, translator of the book, Paweł Laufer, editor, Marta Szarzyńska, project coordinator. The book will be available in the Tajne Komplety Nowe Horyzonty Book Store.
