Watching Shorts

Every day at 7 PM you can watch films from the Polish Short Film Competition, which includes the latest productions, such as those by Jagoda Szelc, Filip Syczyński and Bartek Konopka. Noteworthy films include the 30-minute Island by Dominga Sotomayor Castillo (her From Thursday to Sunday won the 12th TNH Festival) and Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, whose film was awarded at this year’s Rotterdam Festival. The competition includes two films screened at Cannes, the aforementioned Fragments by Agnieszka Woszczyńska and Tomasz Siwiński’s Blue Room. The Quinzaine des Réalisateurs compilation has arrived straight from Cannes in Wrocław and includes 11 films from around the world, such as Frank Ternier’s 8 Bullets, an animated film about a family tragedyJutra, acinematic portrait of Canadian director Claude Jutra, The Revolution Hunter by Margarida Rêgo about the Portuguese Carnation Revolution, It Can Pass Through the Wall (honorable mention in competition) by acclaimed Romanian director Radu Jude, or the competition winner, the Brazilian Heartless. Screenings on July 31 and August 1 at 7 PM at KNH 5.

Come enjoy films from the new Blowup Section, which highlights work by artists from Wrocław and Lower Silesia. The repertoire offers documentaries, features (including the feature-length Boy with a Frog by Piotr and Bartek Bartos), as well as music videos. The competition includes 25 films and prizes funded by the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016 and the Audiovisual Technology Center.
